Fort
Amherst is a scheduled ancient monument of local and
national importance. It is owned by a charity whose
objects are to restore the Fort and open it to the public.
The Charitable Trustees need your assistance to continue
their good work.
You
can contribute to the restoration fund and if you are
a tax payer, you can allow the charity to claim a further
28% from the Inland Revenue, from the tax you have paid.
That sounds like an excellent idea. No one can avoid
tax, but you can make your tax work for a good cause.
The
Fort appeals to children of all ages, who love to explore
the tunnels and old buildings of the Fort. The Fort
comprises over 20 acres of grassy banks, ditches and
woodland, all of which needs to be maintained to make
it safe for the visitors. This is a major undertaking
for the charity, and you can help with a small or large
donation of your choice. Perhaps you have grass cutting
machinery that you would like to donate to a worthy
charity, we are always happy to hear from you, and give
credit to our friends.

Children's
events are becoming very popular at the Fort and there
are ambitious plans to involve more schools, more youth
groups, and more young volunteers in the running of
the Fort and its fundraising activities. You can help
make this possible with a donation to the charity. With
more full and part time staff to manage these activities,
rather than time-limited volunteers, the charity would
be able to run more youth projects. These provide benefits
to the youngsters and the Fort, and you would benefit
from knowing your donation is helping to change a young
person's life experiences for the better.
For
more information send an email, or letter to Fort Amherst
today, Mark your correspondence for the attention of
the Charity Secretary. Your contribution will make a
big difference. Keep an eye on this page, in future,
for projects that you can help with.
