Once you leave the tunnel complex the tour will take you to the upper sections of the Fort where tales of the area will be told whilst taking in the stunning views over Chatham, Rochester, Strood and the River Medway.

Unrestored Tour

Our ‘UNRESTORED TOUR’ tour has been created in response to the overwhelming interest in exploring areas of the fort which are not usually open to the public. Tours start from the Café. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. Children must be kept under supervision by an adult at all times.

The Fort Amherst Summer Fair 2015 promises fun for all the family at Britain’s largest Napoleonic Fortress as we celebrate the site’s 300 years of military history. Strolling to the Fort’s highest point will reward you with spectacular views over the River Medway, whilst younger guests can enjoy our play area - both are a great excuse to visit our Café for some light refreshments. As a popular tourist attraction in its own right, the Fort has much to offer our guests, but the 29th August will be the perfect time to visit! 

Entry is £2 for adults (free to children under 5).
