From the moment you enter the tunnel complex our tales begin, for there is not a single recess that has not been the scene of something un-explained.  Many of these tales have been handed down through history and generations ... but all are said to be true!

Once you leave the tunnel complex the tour will take you to the upper sections of the Fort where tales of the area will be told whilst taking in the stunning views over Chatham, Rochester, Strood and the River Medway.

FORT AMHERST SUMMER FAIR 2014

The Fort Amherst Summer Fair 2014 promises fun for all the family at Britain’s largest Napoleonic Fortress as we celebrate the site’s 300 years of military history. Tours of our amazing network of underground tunnels will be available... and with live entertainment, stalls, games, children’s activities, public demonstrations, and historical re-enactments - the 8th and 9th August will be the perfect time to visit!

Pitches are available for stallholders and entertainment providers wanting to sell their goods or advertise their business, and as all proceeds go towards keeping our grounds open to the public free of charge every day of the year; we would love to hear from anyone who would like to help us run our own stands at this important fundraising event.
